DESCRIPTION:Exploring the riches of sound and the endless possibilities of combining only the best of words with music\, jazz singer and composer Sara So Far provides an ambiance to lose oneself in. \nThrough original compositions\, drawing from jazz influences as well as other sources\, you will be taken on a journey of familiar heart-hugging melodies\, as well as new compositions and old ones re-arranged and re-loved. \nOriginally from The Netherlands/Belgium\, Sara So Far has been playing in Cyprus with great local jazz musicians for over three years\, and it is time for an exciting solo project at Technopolis 20 in Paphos\, on Friday\, 21st of February\, at 8pm. Sara sings her poetry with remarkable depth\, pours her words into song with skill\, supported by her groovy piano playing and dynamic live looping. Building sound upon sound. \nThose who want to sit back and enjoy a musical evening will find something. Those who seek something profound and So Far unheard\, will find something and then more still. \nEntrance: 12 euro\nReservations are necessary at 70002420 (calls only) \nA few words about the musician\nSara So Far (The Netherlands/Belgium) started singing and writing songs as a young child. As she grew up\, songs kept coming and it became clear to her that music was to be her life. In 2004 Sara decided to study jazz singing and moved to Brussels to study with David Linx\, acquiring a Master’s Degree in jazz. She followed masterclasses and courses in Belgium\, Germany and The Netherlands with singers such as Deborah Carter\, Sheila Jordan\, Gloria Cooper\, Judy Niemack\, Anette von Eichel\, Fay Claassen\, Sidsel Endresen and Catherin Sadolin.\nFor a good number of years Sara So Far has been performing and recording with several band formations and as a solo artist mainly in Belgium\, The Netherlands and surrounding countries\, while also being a passionate teacher (voice\, piano and music in general). In 2016\, she did a concert tour with fellow jazz musicians in Taiwan and now lives in Cyprus with her husband and three children\, where she has been performing at multiple venues around the island with Cyprus’ own great jazz musicians. From 2018 onwards\, besides performing with her band\, Sara has been collaborating with bassist Cahit Kutrafali. They give concerts as a Bass & Voice duo\, using live looping and improvisation\, drawing from a rich repertoire of different genres.\n“WISE YET UNASSUMING\, PASSIONATE BUT CALM\, PERFECT VOICE CONTROL AND COMPOSITION\, EVER SO EXQUISITE SARA SO FAR”\nAs a singer\, Sara So Far is known for her warm voice\, excellent ear and love for improvisation. Each concert is likely to be totally different from the next. As a composer\, Sara touches her audience with depth and melodic creativity which form -combined with the harmonies of her piano playing and the groove of her band- an altogether refreshing and original sound. When performing solo\, she seeks to get the most out of the piano\, while occasionally leaving the keys aside to present some voice-only repertoire\, turning to the art of live looping while also using other instruments. For those few poets hidden in the audience there is always a lot to mull over\, as Sara So Far is mad for poetry and seeks to write lyrics that have the music in them before they are heard.\nIn March 2020\, Sara will be recording an album in Nicosia\, Cyprus\, to mark her years of creative collaboration with jazz musicians in Cyprus.

Anyone who has fallen in love may have suffered but has conquered the kingdom of heaven\, says an old saying\, because love is the most beautiful gift given to man. Many composers\, singers and songwriters praised love\, through romantic\, painful\, happy\, sad but also tragic songs. The tenderness of love\, its madness\, its frustration\, its power\, its endurance\, its refusal but also the giving of love\, are some of the issues raised through the Greek songs that will be presented at Technopolis 20 in Paphos\, on February 7\, at 8pm by Sotiris\, Evagoras and Demetris Karageorgis. \nAccording to George Sand\, “There is only one happiness in this life\, to love and be loved”\, and yet\, Theodoros Papadopoulos’s song overrides this important and right saying\, with\, “To love and not to be loved…”. In the extraordinarily melodic song of T. Morakis and G. Fermanoglou\, “What is this thing called love?” love becomes laughter\, tears\, sunshine\, rain… or even\, in the lyrical zeibekiko\, “Love that you became” by Hadjidakis and M. Kakoyiannis\, love becomes murder\, it becomes a double-edged knife. Timeless songs that each refer to love in their own way. Sometimes romantic\, sometimes sweet\, sometimes frustrating or even tragic. \nThe brothers Sotiris\, Evagoras and Demetris Karageorgis are well known musicians and create music for more than 40 years. Born in the village of Tsada – Paphos\, began very early to play music and various instruments (bouzouki\, guitar\, piano\, lute\, Cretan lyre etc.). Sotiris and Evagoras pursued music studies in Greece and N. York respectively\, and have a full time career as musicians and music educators\, while Demetris studying engineering and computers\, holds a computer teaching position but\, at the same time\, keeps a very active and close relationship to music. He started studying classical piano from the age of 8. He participated for about 2 years in the Jazz Ensembles of the European University under the instruction of Marios Toumbas and also attended the “Jazz Futures” workshops that took place in Nicosia from 2008 until 2011\, under the instruction of great jazz musicians from New York\, such as Sacha Perry\, Vahagn Hayrapetyan\, Ari Roland and Chris Byars. In 2012\, he succeeded taking the ALCM diploma in Jazz Piano of London College of Music. Since then\, he has performed as a member in several jazz combos during various events in Cyprus. Loukas is currently teaching music in elementary schools and also performing jazz music in several jazz venues all around Cyprus. \nPhilipp Psillides is a Cypriot professional drummer and instructor. He studied Jazz through the “Jazz Futures\,” a program sponsored by the U.S. Embassy\, were he had the opportunity to play with and learn Jazz from New York musicians. By the age of 21 he was offered a scholarship at the University of Nicosia\, were he majored in Jazz Performance-Drums. After graduating on 2014 Philipp travelled to New York where he took lessons from the well-known drummer Jean-Pierre Bouvet (JP Bouvet). Philipp currently lives in Cyprus and works as instructor in the private school “American International\,” in the music academy “Musicopolis” and in the private school “Falcon”. He has also been playing different styles of music\, such as jazz and latin\, with numerous bands around Cyprus. \nStefanos Pontos is a musician and sound engineer from Cyprus. He studied jazz guitar at the European University of Nicosia and since then has worked with various jazz artists of the island. After his graduation he studied jazz improvisation for another three years with John Savvides. He later moved to the United Kingdom to study Sound engineering and Tour Management. After gaining his diploma he worked for various PA companies and bands on music events and festivals in the UK and abroad. He was one of the in-house sound engineers at BIMM (British Institute of Modern Music) in Brighton\, where he also taught Basic Recording Skills. He was the sound engineer on the weekly masterclasses where he worked with a lot of guest artists like Morris Pleasure\, Jennifer Batten\, Guthrie Govan\, Sid Wilson\, Adam Wakeman\, Remi Kabaka.
