DESCRIPTION:After 2 years of being active and playing shows at Jazz festivals\, venues and music schools\, Junkey Moneywise\, a progressive/modern jazz trio from Nicosia\, presents a series of shows named ‘Awakening’. The trio will perform at Technopolis 20 in Paphos\, on Friday\, 29th of March\, 8pm. \n‘Awakening’ is the musical result of this “two year” journey and it’s entirely made of original compositions of the band\, planned to be recorded in 2019. The Junkey Moneywise consists of Vasilis Vourvopoulos – Piano / Keyboards\, Marinos Kassinos – Bass and Markos Ioannou – Drums. \nThe live performances of the trio have received major critical acclaim\, mostly due to the highly energetic style of their members’ playing\, with polyrhythmic and complex passages leading to more atmospheric\, downtempo parts\, combining the european Jazz influence with neo-soul\, latin jazz and even eastern Music in their compositions.

The exhibition presents primary evidence drawn from historical research into the World War II period\, including the participation of Cyprus and Cypriot volunteers in the fight against the Axis powers as well as significant aspects of the Greek people’s resistance. \nIt collects\, traces and displays people and images as it tells the story of the humble heroes of the war. It is a tribute to the participation of Cyprus and Greece in the 1940 campaign. DESCRIPTION:“Uranus’s second castration: piece for a dancing flutist”\, by Brice Catherin\, Melissa Garcia Carro and Eva Stavrou \nPerformance and presentation of the artistic process by Eva Stavrou \nThe second Castration of Uranus may be a composition for one flutist moving in space while playing. it’s to be performed as a pagan ritual. Sound and movement must constantly receive the care proper to an ancestral ceremony. \nSounds and movements aren’t synchronized as they happen\, but conceived independently of each other. The performer should embrace the fact that some movements\, torsions in particular\, can have an influence on her sound. There’s a permanent tension between the “pure” and controlled sound of the flute\, and its unavoidable distortions thanks to certain movements and positions. \nThe composition is in open form – it’s only completed by the performer’s interpretation\, the space\, its acoustics and also the audience. Each time it’s performed is therefore unique.
