DESCRIPTION:Cyprus Film Days International festival\, the biggest international film event in Cyprus dedicated exclusively to contemporary world cinema and fiction feature films\, returns for its seventeeth edition at the Rialto Theatre\, in Limassol and Zena Palace Cinema\, in Nicosia. The festival is organized by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture and also the Rialto Theatre. \nAn international competition programme (Glocal Images)\, premieres of films which are awarded at inernational festivals (Viewfinder)\, a Cypriot Films Competition Programme\, film tributes\, parallel events for kids and youth along with music events compose this year’s exciting programme of Cyprus Film Days. \nThe Jury are comprised of acclaimed personalities from the international movie industry\, whereas invited administrators and producers are attending their film screenings in Cyprus to discuss with the audience. The festival proudly releases 3 titles of the multi- awarded films which will be presented this year: girl by Lukas Dhont\, Dogman by Matteo Garrone\, and also the Guilty by Gustav Möller. \nThe festival will take place from the 12th to the 20th of April 2019\, and it’ll culminate with the Awards Ceremony at the Rialto Theatre.

DESCRIPTION:The performance was staged by the renowned Kaluga Regional Drama Theater\, which is the same age as Alexander Pushkin and\, in 242 years of its existence\, has preserved and enhanced the best traditions of Russian theatre art. \nThe play was created on the premise of the novel “Outside the Earth” by the outstanding Russian scientist and inventor\, the founder of theoretical cosmonautics\, K. Tsiolkovsky. \nThe story of the novel says that between the highest picks of the Himalayas is a beautiful castle is hidden- the dwelling of people. Several scientists\, philosophers\, researchers and inventors have recently settled in it. Disappointment in people and also the joys of life drove the heroes into solitude and united into a fraternal hermit family. \nWhat do these highly intelligent hermits dream about? of course\, how to make people fly into space. Four scientists\, fanatically devoted to science\, are developing an ambitious 1st space travel plan. They make calculations\, design and build a spacecraft\, and then\, taking with them 2 curious girls\, start from the earth. \nThe spectator can witness a takeoff with heavy overloads and astronauts hovering in zero gravity. Then there’ll be a construction of a greenhouse and consumption of space grown cucumbers and apples\, spacewalks and even landing on the moon. and all this – with spectacular special effects\, bright costumes and sparkling fun. Desperate dreamers … but their dreams must come true!

Since then it’s been translated and played in thirty countries and it keeps being played\, because of its profound human angle but also to its bitter humour that renders it timeless and up to date during a tragicomic way. \nIt was written in the Soviet Union of the eighties\, the period before its fall\, when arbitrage and corruption prevail. The society is at an impasse as well as its people. They dream of another life in different places\, somehow differently. They get away to different worlds\, to different people’s lives\, they create fictional stories\, they evade a suffocating and intolerable routine\, claiming for an efflorescence. \nIt’s a tragicomic story of 2 lonely people. One day in some unspecified time within the future they find each other in the public park. He and she bring on stage the most vivid\, the most prolific of the themes\, Love. They walk together the route from lie to truth. A route in which lie is confused with the need for private freedom\, free reflection\, ideas.
