DESCRIPTION:During the English colonial period in Cyprus\, the small Mediterranean island was caught in the whirlwind of economic instability and between the 1920’s and late 1930’s Fetine\, like hundreds of other young Turkish Cypriot girls was forced into marriage and sent abroad. What became a common practice at the time\, this action affected many families and its consequences have stretched across many generations. \nThe non-political\, non-governmental organisation YEU (Youth for Exchange & Understanding) Cyprus with Nicosia Municipality and the Youth Council of Nicosia are pleased to invite you to a FREE screening of the award-winning documentary\, ‘Missing Fetine’ directed by Yeliz Shukri and produced by Stavros Papageorghiou\, Tetratkys Films. \nThe screening will take a place at the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation (English\, Greek\, and Turkish subtitles) on Tuesday the 17th of September at 19:00\, and it will be followed by a Q & A where the attendees will have the opportunity to converse with the film director Yeliz Shukri\, the main character Pembe Mentesh\, and the film producer Stavros Papageorgiou. \nDocumentary functions as public history\, and Missing Fetine has shed light on the historical perspective of the time. The documentary’s strong social impact has led to the unearthing of many other similar stories which in turn enabled the creation of a photographic exhibition. \nThe exhibition will be available for viewing prior to screening free of charge. \nThis event is sponsored by Nicosia Municipality and the Youth Council of the Nicosia Municipality and we thank them for their great contribution. \nAs mentioned above\, the entrance is free\, however\, we kindly ask you to use the RSVP link for venue spacing purposes.

DESCRIPTION:Our rally has been entertaining participants and spectators for decades\, something we aim to continue with this iteration of our event. Our 47 years of experience\, and our passion for this sport\, arms us with all the resources to host a successful rally\, making sure to deliver the best possible event. \nIt is my promise\, as a member of the Organizing Committee\, and that of every volunteer of this rally\, that we will perform our duty diligently in order for us to enjoy a safe and exciting event. \nThe 2019 Cyprus Rally returns… in the Autumn (although\, I am certain that this will feel like Summer to most of you!) From the 27th until the 29th of September\, Nicosia and Larnaca will feel the pulse and rhythm of this great celebration of motorsport that we know as the Cyprus Rally 2019. \nThe main course of the event will take place on Saturday\, the 28th\, and Sunday\, the 29th of September\, with 12 classic Special Stages on a mixed surface of asphalt and gravel! It should be noted that the “mix surface” Stages were first introduced\, in our very own rally in 2009! The big change this year\, in comparison to last year’s events\, is the inclusion of semi mountainous Special Stages in Nicosia district\, that it is famous for their demanding characteristics\, spectacular vistas and turns. \nNicosia will\, of course\, host the Super Special Stage\, on Saturday at 17:00\, offering a unique show with rally cars tackling corners in the heart of the city. \nThe Start and Finish Ceremonies will remain by the sea for this year as well\, on the beachhead of Foinikoudes in Larnaca\, which befits the rally to perfection giving all our guests the chance to enjoy the sun and sea of our beautiful island\, which remains an incredibly attractive tourist destination. \nOn Friday\, the 27th of September\, at 19:00\, all crews will take their place before the Starting Ramp\, to gather applause and strength from the gathering crowd\, while on Sunday\, the 29th at 18:00\, we shall return to Larnaca in order to welcome the winners and finishers of this year’s rally. \nThe base of operations for the rally returns to Nicosia\, with the Headquarters\, Press Office and Service Park being situated in a very close proximity to each other\, at the entrance of the city\, right next to the Police Headquarters. \nTo sum up\, I would like to welcome all crews from abroad to our island\, and I am greatly looking forward to meeting all of the participants and lovers of this sport at the Start Ceremony. \nA heartfelt welcome to you all. DESCRIPTION:Under the slogan\, «Up to You(th)»\, the Youth Board of Cyprus is organizing for the fifth consecutive year the Youth Festival\, which will take place on Saturday\, September 28th at the Acropolis Park in Nicosia. \nThe event concerns youth directly\, and they are its protagonists\, since its aim is to showcase youth as one of the most vibrant and hope-bearing groups of society. \nThis year marks the 25 year anniversary of the Youth Board itself\, and this symbolism sends the message once again that the Youth Board stands by the youth of the island since its founding\, invests in their future through innovative and creative programs\, pertaining to education\, training and information-sharing. In the last 25 years\, the organization has been working diligently in order to offer to the youth\, new spaces of freedom and expression\, and to inspire them in order to be actively involved in creative sectors of social and artistic activity. \nIn this year’s Festival\, we are holding again the NGO Fair\, in collaboration with the NGO Support Center and the Cyprus Youth Council\, with the participation of more than 75 organizations (NGOs) that are active in topics related to volunteerism\, social welfare\, the environment\, culture\, human rights and others. \nMoreover\, those attending the Festival will enjoy the music of cypriot bands\, but also artists from Cameroon\, as well as short films by Cyprus-based artists\, participate in open discussions / debates\, observe alternative science experiments\, and meet ComicCon cosplayers. In addition\, the Festival will give the opportunity for the audience to witness exiting new technology advancements and applications\, to experience an alternative «human» library\, but also to become familiar with EU programs and campaigns. There will also be a kids corner\, with activities for children and a karagöz (shadow theatre) performance. \nFinally\, let us note that since 2017\, all the activities of the Youth Board\, including the Youth Festival are supported by the National Youth Strategy of Cyprus\, which is the result of the work carried out by the organization in the last 25 years\, thus imprinting the vision of the state for the youth.

DESCRIPTION:BirdLife Cyprus is inviting the public to celebrate autumn bird migration on Sunday\, 6 October at Athalassa National Forest Park. Join BirdLife Cyprus at the bird hide and at the tables next to the south parking area (Latsia entrance)\, from 9 am to 12 pm to spend a day in the wondrous world of birds with a bird ringing demonstration\, birdwatching and creative activities. \nBird migration is among the wonders of the natural world. From the smallest of songbirds weighing just a few grams to the most majestic of raptors soaring through the skies\, birds and their epic journeys never fail to fascinate us. Now is the time when millions of birds are leaving Europe to travel towards Africa where they will spend the winter. For many of these birds\, Cyprus is in the itinerary as our island is located on one of the major migration corridors connecting Europe with Africa. It is for this reason that autumn is an ideal time to go out and enjoy the feathered creatures that are making their way to warmer places. \nEvent programme \n09:00 – 10:00\nRinging Demonstration: During the ringing demonstration\, participants will get a unique chance to watch from up close various species of birds being ringed and released back to nature. \n10:00 – 12:00 \nMaking of an insect hotel for the park\nPrintmaking workshop\nBird feeder making workshop (registration obligatory due to limited availability.
