In June, two street quests are planned, on June 16 and June 30, starting as usual from the CVAR Foundation at 6.30pm. Registrations take place between 6.30pm and 7.45pm and each team is given a starting time. Start times will be available at 6.30 pm for people with school age children, while all others start between 7pm and 8pm.

The quest is to navigate up to 20 location points on the map of Nicosia (within the city walls) and answer a simple, non-cryptic question at each location. For example, ‘What is the colour of the door at number 18?’ or ‘How many mannequins in the shop window?’. Each question is worth either 10, 20 or 30 points. There is also a bonus question at each event worth 50 points. The total time allowed is 60 minutes. For every minute late there is a 5-point penalty.

Participants will need a pen to mark their answers on the question sheet. Otherwise comfortable walking or running shoes are advised. Light coloured clothing (ideally reflective) is encouraged for extra visibility as the event takes place in the evening.

Call up your most adventurous friends and family members and form teams of up to four people. Points will be shared equally among team members and children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult. The winning team is awarded discounted gift vouchers from Holland & Barrett Cyprus.

The performance-monologue of Evgeny Knyazev will take us to St. Petersburg since the time of Pushkin. We will find ourselves in a society of ladies dressed up in magnificent dresses and shining gentlemen’s manners. We will hear the story of the great wins and one tragic loss shrouded in a mystical fleur, try to find out the secret of the “three cards” from the rich Countess, visit the broken fate of the poor girl Lisa, and in the end we will witness the insanity of the protagonist – Hermann.

For an hour and a half of stage time, the Actor masterfully changes his mask, turning before our eyes either into a capricious old woman, then into her destitute pupil, or into a young man obsessed with the game.
Revived images light haze in space, sit on the seats next to the audience in the stalls and dissolve in the music of Pushkin’s words.
Is it worth challenging Fate and can a person overcome what is destined for him, is destined for above? Let’s look for answers to these questions together with Evgeny Knyazev.

Within the framework of the IV international theater festival “Five Evenings in Cyprus”, the Minsk Modern Art Theater (Belarus) presents the play “DRAGON” (based on the play by Eugene Schwartz).

The Dragon rules the city for 400 years, annually taking one beautiful Girl. Once in the city comes the wandering knight Lancelot. He is ready to free people, but the inhabitants are against – they are used to the order established by the dictator.
Killing the Dragon is half the battle. But to bring back to life souls crippled by hypocrisy, lies and fear is not an easy task. The main character on the stage and each of those sitting in the hall will decide for himself on whose side he is and what is more important for him: momentary profit or high ideals, justice or cowardly adaptability. After all, the monster must first be defeated in itself.
All genres are woven in the play: social satire, aphoristic comedy, anti-fascist pamphlet, philosophical parable, and romantic love drama. In a word – #NON-TALE …

Within the framework of the IV international theater festival “Five Evenings in Cyprus”, Perm Fedotov’s Perm author’s theater “Near the Bridge” presents the musical comedy “KHANUMA” by Auxentius Tsagareli.

February 15, 2020, Paphos, Marchideo Theater, beginning at 19.30.

The rich Tiflis merchant wants to become related with an aristocratic family and therefore is going to give his beautiful daughter-in-law to marry an old ruined prince. Girl in despair – she loves her young teacher, the prince’s nephew. Two matchmakers – Kabato and Hanuma – take on the case. One promises to marry the prince to her bride and take away the title of chief matchmaker from the other. Hanuma helps her lovers and thereby destroys the cunning plans of the rival Kabato.

Toasts, songs, dances, costumes and colorful houses of ancient Tiflis will take us to Georgia of the 19th century with its cheerful mores, simple-minded people and colorful customs. The spectators on the gases come to life paintings of Niko Pirosmani, the most famous artist of Georgia.

The event concerns youth directly, and they are its protagonists, since its aim is to showcase youth as one of the most vibrant and hope-bearing groups of society.

This year marks the 25 year anniversary of the Youth Board itself, and this symbolism sends the message once again that the Youth Board stands by the youth of the island since its founding, invests in their future through innovative and creative programs, pertaining to education, training and information-sharing. In the last 25 years, the organization has been working diligently in order to offer to the youth, new spaces of freedom and expression, and to inspire them in order to be actively involved in creative sectors of social and artistic activity.

In this year’s Festival, we are holding again the NGO Fair, in collaboration with the NGO Support Center and the Cyprus Youth Council, with the participation of more than 75 organizations (NGOs) that are active in topics related to volunteerism, social welfare, the environment, culture, human rights and others.

Moreover, those attending the Festival will enjoy the music of cypriot bands, but also artists from Cameroon, as well as short films by Cyprus-based artists, participate in open discussions / debates, observe alternative science experiments, and meet ComicCon cosplayers. In addition, the Festival will give the opportunity for the audience to witness exiting new technology advancements and applications, to experience an alternative «human» library, but also to become familiar with EU programs and campaigns. There will also be a kids corner, with activities for children and a karagöz (shadow theatre) performance.

Finally, let us note that since 2017, all the activities of the Youth Board, including the Youth Festival are supported by the National Youth Strategy of Cyprus, which is the result of the work carried out by the organization in the last 25 years, thus imprinting the vision of the state for the youth.

In this article, we have picked five Festivals taking place in Cyprus which we believe are worth visiting.

1. Living Color Festival

Situated in Ayia Napa, Living Color Festival burst to the scene in 2017 and hasn’t looked back ever since, over the past three years fans of electronic, RNB and hip hop enjoyed an amazing experience in the heart of Ayia Napa and this year will be no different.

Festival will take place on the 3rd of August.

2. Loud Music Festival

A four-day extravaganza for fans of all genres, LMF Festival or Loud Music Festival has grown to become a juggernaut of a festival on the island.

The festival for the past 2 years has been situated in Limassol and fans are always in for a special treat by the organisers.

3. BCL Music Festival 

Craig David, Snoop Dogg, Giggs, French Montana, Kid Ink, Deadmau5, Chase and Status, Rudimental, Hannah Wants, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike are just some of the names that have graced this grand beach event which takes place in Ayia Napa.

Locals and tourists get together at the Poseidon Beach in probably one of the longest festivals on the island which began on the 22nd June and ends on the 17th August.

4. Sunset Tribes Festival

A festival created in 2017 and is located at Governor’s Beach and is on the Limassol coast.

The festival will be hosting 54 DJs at the decks, with artists from the USA, Spain, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Montenegro and Greece parading in front of the people.

Sunset Tribes Festival will take place on the 5-6th of July.

5. Cyprus Rocks Festival

Any Rock-heads out there?

This is the festival for you, if you’re a lover of rock music then from 2-9 October all fans join together in Protaras.

Cyprus Rocks features some of the UK’s and Europe’s finest tributes to the biggest names in Classic Rock. Situated on the outskirts of Protaras, well known for its sandy bays and picturesque harbour…

The International Children Folk dance Festival was first held in 1993 and gives the opportunity to children from countries with different traditions and cultures come together and interact with each other.

During their stay in Cyprus, the children will be hosted from families in Limassol and they will also have the opportunity to visit and explore archeological places, historical and cultural places of the island.

All the performances start with a parade of all participants in the streets of the municipalities or communities and end up to the squares where they will be held.
