On Saturday 14th March, at Pattihio Theatre Limassol at 4:00p.m., the best hip hop dancers from all over Cyprus will battle each other in a healthy competition, for the title of the Best! The competition is part of the UDO STREETDANCE Group and acts as Preliminaries of the WORLD UDO STREETDANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS which will be staged in August in Blackpool, UK and of the EUROPEAN UDO STREETDANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS which will take place in Kalkar Germany this May. The young bboys will have the chance to battle for their place for the International Bboying competition BORN2BREAK in Israel in October.

Judges of the event are the world-known dancers, UDO Head Judge Bruno Perrier from the France, Bboy Dudko from Israel and James Combo Marino from Los Angeles. DJ of the event is D-Mice from Total Reality Greece. The dancers will have the opportunity to participate at the dance workshops to be given in the morning of the competition.

International known artists like the Soprano Chryso Makariou, who is based in Vienna and the Austrian Tenor Martin Mairingerwill present a wonderful programm accompanied by members of the famous “Vienna Classic Orchestra” who will come directly from Vienna for this concert. During the concert will be also presented as part of the “Promotion of Cypriot Young Lyric Singers and Talents”, the singers soprano Maria Poulli, Nefeli Antoniou and the choir of the music school in Nicosia “A Piacere” under the artistic direction of Nikoletta Stylianou and Antigoni Fotiou.

The audience will have the chance to enjoy popular Christmas songs as well as the Highlights of Viennese Opereta and Valses.

The established Christmas concert “Viennese Christmas” was first held in Nicosia in 2015 and has been organized since then every year with great success, once in Nicosia and once in Vienna, always supporting the work of the Cyprus Association “One Wish One Dream”.

Friends of jazz and world music will have this year, the opportunity to listen to the original music of Cypriot artists, which is influenced by jazz and world music from various countries and regions such as Cyprus, Greece, the Balkans, the Middle East and more.

Alongside to the festival’s main program a series of side events are organized, such as workshops and discussions with foreign guests, emphasis is given by the organisation on informing and educating the artists. An innovation to this year’s event is the organisation of three Jam Sessions at Art Studio 55. The 1st Jam session will be held on November 28th with Ermis & Lee, and two more will be held immediately after the main events, on November 29th and 30th.

Its that time of the year when temperatures are high, tourists surge to the beaches to enjoy the sun, enjoy a drink with friends and family but for some summer is time for a good party!

Cyprus, as you all know, is not ashamed to throw a big party and over the past couple of years, the concept of music festivals have become more and more popular amongst the Cypriot crowds.

For many people festivals are a great way to explore new places and immerse yourself in a culture which is not necessarily close to your own. Meeting the locals and participating in the events they organize can be extremely fun and educational.

In this article, we have picked five Festivals taking place in Cyprus which we believe are worth visiting.

1. Living Color Festival

Situated in Ayia Napa, Living Color Festival burst to the scene in 2017 and hasn’t looked back ever since, over the past three years fans of electronic, RNB and hip hop enjoyed an amazing experience in the heart of Ayia Napa and this year will be no different.

Festival will take place on the 3rd of August.

2. Loud Music Festival

A four-day extravaganza for fans of all genres, LMF Festival or Loud Music Festival has grown to become a juggernaut of a festival on the island.

The festival for the past 2 years has been situated in Limassol and fans are always in for a special treat by the organisers.

3. BCL Music Festival 

Craig David, Snoop Dogg, Giggs, French Montana, Kid Ink, Deadmau5, Chase and Status, Rudimental, Hannah Wants, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike are just some of the names that have graced this grand beach event which takes place in Ayia Napa.

Locals and tourists get together at the Poseidon Beach in probably one of the longest festivals on the island which began on the 22nd June and ends on the 17th August.

4. Sunset Tribes Festival

A festival created in 2017 and is located at Governor’s Beach and is on the Limassol coast.

The festival will be hosting 54 DJs at the decks, with artists from the USA, Spain, the Netherlands, Lithuania, Montenegro and Greece parading in front of the people.

Sunset Tribes Festival will take place on the 5-6th of July.

5. Cyprus Rocks Festival

Any Rock-heads out there?

This is the festival for you, if you’re a lover of rock music then from 2-9 October all fans join together in Protaras.
