This was Baghdatis` last game in his career. The 34-year-old tennis player said recently that he is planning to retire and that Wimbledon would be his last tournament. This was his 14th appearance at Wimbledon.

“This decision was not an easy one. It has proven tough for me, especially physically, to come back to where I feel like I belong.
Even though my mind wants to do it, the limits of my body have prevented me to maintain and play at a consistent high level as I expect from myself. Especially the last two years have been very difficult for me with recurring injuries and pain”, he announced on his website on June 24.

Yesterday’s match lasted one hour and 43 minutes and the final score was 3-0. ( 6-1, 7-4,  6-3).

Marcos won international fame in 2006 as he managed to be the runner-up at the Australian Open and a semifinalist at the Wimbledon Championships. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 8 in August 2006. Marcos owns a 21-13 record at the prestigious grass-court Grand Slam.

Baghdatis revealed on social media that the upcoming Wimbledon grand slam will be his last tournament and sent an emotional message to his fans who had been rooting for him throughout his career.

“Thank you for always believing in me and pushing me to become better, Thank you for this amazing run,

I can’t wait to give it my all one last time in London!” Baghdatis said.

Baghdatis was the runner-up at the 2006 Australian Open and a semifinalist at the 2006 Wimbledon Championships and reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 8 in August 2006.

Four months after the triumph of Stockholm, Stefanos Tsitsipas conquers the 2nd title of his career in Marseilles.

The Greek tennis player who is in No. 11 in the world ranking won with 7-5, 7-6 (5) Mikhail Koukuskin in the final of Open 13 in Marseille.

Tsitsipas now has two wins and two defeats since in 2018 he had lost at Toronto and Barcelona from Nadal. Along with the title, Tsitsipas will also get 110.000 Euros and he moves ahead.

The year has started very well for the Greek tennis player.

In his latest video, Stefanos recalls a serious incident in the past which nearly cost him his life. He describes the moment in 2016 when he dived into a stormy sea and after hurting his foot on a rock finding himself swept out in the open by the huge waves.
Stefanos goes on to say that he felt he was drowning and started panicking. “It was the worst sensation I ever felt”, he said, adding he felt completely helpless as he was struggling with the waves to reach the shores.
“I remember drowning, that feeling of dying”, he says overwhelmed with emotion. “I remember the flashback of my life”, he says.

He explains how his dad swam to him and finally, he felt relief when he stepped on a reef as he was being dragged out to the shore by his father.
