The main issue of the discussion will be the protocol governing the continuation of the Cyprus Championship and the Cup, the training and all the parameters related to football, such as travel, sports facilities, and what will happen in a possible coronavirus case in one or more clubs.

The Protocol should be ready by Thursday from the Association in order to be presented and discussed in the meeting.

In particular, Karayiannis said that as a first step training could begin provided that it takes place in open spaces and there is no physical contact, explaining that footballers should keep a distance between them, until conditions are safer.

At a first phase, tackling and physical contact would be dangerous, he noted.

Karayiannis added that footballers could change at the stands which are open spaces and could have showers either at home or in turn at the locker rooms.

According to the expert, a second phase, could mean the possibility of “allowing physical contact provided there is no longer a virus transmission problem.”

In that case, championship matches could start in the beginning of June, but would initially have to take place behind closed doors, he concluded.

The fixtures have been announced for the 2019-2020 football season the draw was made on Wednesday afternoon.

The Cyprus CYTA League will kick off on the 24-25 August and will conclude on 16-17 May 2020.

A very interesting opening weekend will take place when both Limassol clubs will face tough opposition, AEL Limassol will host Anorthosis and AEK Larnaca will clash with Apollon Limassol.

Champions APOEL will host newly promoted Olympiakos Nicosia at the GSP Stadium and Omonia Nicosia will travel to the Makario to face Doxa Katokopias.
